Looks exciting but people shouldn't take these sketches too literally.
There is a problem in Leicester that the moment people see an 'artists impression' they assume that its exactly what they're going to get. None of these have planning permission yet.
Developers tend to deliberately over-embellish these drawings to wow people but will the real thing be up to the high standard we want for our city?
Hope so. The other factor with sketch accuracy is that a lot of the ones we see are suggested designs commissioned by Leicester Regeneration Company as opposed to submitted plans by whoever actually gets the development job.
Developers will cut corners if they can get away with it and preservation of heritage features such as that water tower often falls by the wayside when the time comes.
Leicester City Council are notorious for giving developers and easy ride which is why so much of the city is such a jumble sale. All of LRC's hard work can be undone by the planning committee if something second rate is given approval.

I can see what you are saying. Artist impressions aren't always what we end up with in reality.
The Water Tower in the sketch does exist however and there will be some development around it in the near future.
So I think the Water Tower sketch will not be too far from the truth...
